... is a topic that many people don't think about, mostly because we're a small state and many assume our contribution to global supply and demand isn't that much. Also, we're landlocked. Most of what we buy or sell comes from somewhere else in the U.S. On top of that, our local culture is characterized by a mistrust of things international.
Still, Oklahoma has a competitive advantage in key industries. Those who seek it out will find that our state interacts with international governments, business, and regular citizens on many levels.
Foreign visitors are often disillusioned by the inconsistency between American ideals and American consumerist, Hollywood culture on the coasts. But when they venture into the Midwest, they are often surprised and refreshed to discover that those unique American ideals that the rest of the world looks up to are best preserved and reflected in small places like Oklahoma.
